Rural Family Violence Conference

This event is sponsored by the Whitecourt Family Violence Stakeholder’s Committee, a group of community agency representatives who have come together to address the issue of rural family violence. Participating will be professionals who respond to or work with rural persons (children, adolescents, and adults) who have been affected by family violence.

Whitecourt is a rural town with the population of approximately 9,000 with another 4,000 in surrounding small communities. The focus of the conference will be rural family violence; its effect on children; drug and alcohol abuse; impact of harassment and stalking; the presence of firearms; recognizing and responding to abuse; cross-cultural perspectives; and the search for answers.
